CONSULTING· COACHING
Nobody here in Amsterdam is going to argue with you
about what you left behind —
which can feel like relief,
until you notice no one has the words for it either.
Spiritual companioning holds safe nonjudgemental exploratory space for processing faith questions and the cultural disorientation together.

Rachel Woodroof
AMSTERDAM, NL
I'm a certified spiritual director through the Metagem Institute, registered with Spiritual Directors International. Before this work, I spent years as a refugee aid worker — experience that shapes how I think about displacement, both spiritual and geographic.
My work centers on religious trauma, high-control religious backgrounds, addiction, and spiritual abuse recovery. I'm a trained crisis counselor for LGBTQ+ youth, and this practice is explicitly open and affirming to LGBTQ+ people as well as anyone who has felt marginalized by faith community.
Based in Amsterdam, working with individuals across the Netherlands and internationally — in person or by video.
"You didn't just leave your faith home. You left a country."
For many people I companion, this isn't only a personal or theological unraveling. It's also a reckoning with what the tradition became — how evangelical institutions, over the last several decades, folded so tightly into a nationalist political project that the two are now hard to separate from the outside, and often just as hard to separate from the inside. If part of what you're carrying is grief, anger, or disorientation about that entanglement — not just doctrine, but what your faith community asked of you politically — that's welcome here too.
I'm not offering a political analysis, and I'm not offering a replacement ideology. I'm offering a place to sit with what that entanglement cost you, without either defending it or being handed a new set of correct beliefs to replace the old ones.

Spiritual Companioning
Not therapy. Not coaching. A quiet, present, non-directive accompaniment for seasons of inner transition — grief, questioning, vocation, faith, identity. No agenda, no programme. Just the practice of being genuinely present to what is and exploring deeper connection to our spirits outside of dogma and demand.
What is Spiritual Companioning?
Spiritual companioning comes from the ancient tradition many know as spiritual direction — though "direction" is a bit of a misnomer. The practice is non-directive: rooted in attentive, open questions rather than advice or answers, in the belief that something larger is already at work in each person's life, however that's named or understood.
As a companion, my role is to listen without judgment, and to help keep your own story in focus — especially in the parts that are hardest to look at directly.
All spiritual, cultural, and religious backgrounds are welcome here, as are those who wouldn't call themselves religious at all. If God-language isn't useful to you, tell me — we'll find language that fits your experience instead.
